Highlights : To Maintain Ultimate Comfort , Safety , and Healthier Indoor Environment . Weather Extremes : We usually do not feel comfortable in very hot or cold weather. And yet, we seldom know the exact temperature of our living or working environment. The desirable indoor (ambient) temperature for our comfort, ranges from about 65 Fahrenheit (18.8) Celsius to 80 Fahrenheit (26.7) Celsius .. And our computers as well as other electronic and electrical equipment also operate more efficiently within the above temperature zone . To have the ultimate comfort indoors we have the following choices :

Besides adjusting the temperature in which we feel comfortable and adjusting clothing, food, water, and activities (all in moderation) in different seasons, we can achieve some comfort indoors by creating a natural air draft (when it is warm) and blocking the drafts(when it is cold) or by mechanical means. We are regularly informed and know the outside temperature and forecast .To be aware of the indoor temperature as well (since it varies significantly from outside temperature due to different factors), we may use a room thermometer .

If our AIR CONDITIONING and HEATING systems ( regardless of what source of energy, or kind of COOLING or HEATING system we are using ), are capable maintaining temperatures within the above mentioned temperature range in summer and winter , we do not have to worry , we may just mount the thermometer next to any thermostat to double check the temperature settings and know the indoor temperature when the systems are not in operation. If we already have a digital thermostat which usually has a built in thermometer we can use an extra one to check the temperature in the kitchen or the car, those are two spaces which are critical .

Knowing the exact temperature of the indoors gives us more control on maintaining comfort and conservation . In the spaces where there are not any room thermostats, we may hang or attach the thermometer about five foot six inches (167 cm) above the floor away from direct exposure to HOT COLD sources and reach of children.

If the AIR CONDITIONING and COOLING units are not capable of maintaining temperatures within the range mentioned above, we may contact our local AIR CONDITIONING and HEATING firms for solving the problem.

The following is a list of HEATING ,COOLING , AIR CONDITIONING ,VENTILATING and useful equipment to provide comfortable, healthy, and safer environment for ourselves, while maintaining a better operating conditions for our equipment .To start with :

First, we need a room thermometer to monitor and maintain the desired temperature. By knowing the exact temperature we can easily check and regulate the thermostat settings or control COOLING ,and HEATING systems with no thermostats. We can even use smaller, less energy consuming equipment when the weather conditions permit. Thermometers are available in different forms; some come in packages that include a humid meter (hygrometer), a barometer or both with an attractive design that can be matched with the decor .

A FAN is the second and simplest of the equipment we may need to maintain adequate breeze when the weather is not too HOT or COLD . There are many kinds of fans like ceiling and portable types available . Some even come with heating coils for an additional or stand-by HEATING source when needed . And some are equipped with moisture adding mechanism to add moisture to the air for color feeling , and can be used when the weather is not too HOT, or as a supplemental COOLING source; there are also battery operated types which are useful in emergencies . We always should choose the latest models and the most energy efficient HEATING AIR CONDITIONING , VENTILATING , and AIR CLEANING units and related equipment when replacing them ; New models are less energy consuming and are more environment friendly .

Finally , few other units we may need are : portable HEATING and COOLING units , AIR CLEANERS or PURIFIERS which provide cleaner air, and HUMIDIFIERS when the weather is too dry, or DEHUMIDIFIERS when it is too humid .

And remember ! Not to be exposed too close to, or direct supply source of HOT or COLD air for long . And also ! It is always a safe practice to have at least a SMOKE and  CO  detector at Home , the Computer room, or the Home office ; and maintain it in working condition .
